FAQs

What is this OTP and why do I have to register for this?

OTP (one time password), introduced for preventing dishonest bookings, is sent by IRCTC to the customer's e-mail ID and mobile phone which needs to be entered for verification with Cleartrip.

What is the process to register for the OTP?

Please refer to the process details specified above.

What if I don't remember the e-mail address and / or mobile number which I have used for
registering my IRCTC account?

Visit the IRCTC site - http://www.irctc.co.in/ - and login using your user name & password. Proceed to the 'User Profile' section on left side panel and click on 'update profile'. You'll have to enter your password once again to update your profile / check your profile information. You can check and see your e-mail ID and mobile number here and use the same for registration with Cleartrip.

During registration with Cleartrip, I'm getting some error notifications and hence, I'm not able
to complete the process. What do I have to do?

If the error says the mobile number and username you've entered already in use at IRCTC but the e-mail is not in use at IRCTC, it means that the e-mail id, user id and mobile number combination do not match at IRCTC end. You need to change your e-mail ID to the one which is associated with your IRCTC account.

If the error says 'the e-mail ID and mobile number you've entered are registered with different users. Please try with all matching details', it means that the e-mail id, user id and mobile number combination do not match at IRCTC end. The mobile number being entered is probably not updated in IRCTC database. You need to visit the IRCTC site and update the mobile number by clicking on the 'update profile' link under 'user profile' section. Then come back to Cleartrip for registering your IRCTC user id with us.

If the error says 'user is de-active/blacklisted', you cannot proceed with the registration using the existing IRCTC user name. Register using new IRCTC user name, e-mail address and mobile no.

If the error says 'The entered mobile is already registered with IRCTC', it means that your mobile number is already registered with IRCTC with a different username and email id. Kindly use the same e-mail id which is associated with your IRCTC account. In case you have forgotten your IRCTC user ID, search for the mail from IRCTC (care@irctc.co.in) in your inbox.

If the error says 'an unexpected error has occurred', it means that due to delay at verification from IRCTC, the verification process could not be completed. You need to re-click on 'verify for partner website and activate your account' link in the mail from IRCTC to complete the registration process.

If the error says 'The entered email is already registered with IRCTC', it means you need to enter the IRCTC user id registered with the above email address and mobile number associated with your IRCTC account. In case you have forgotten your IRCTC user ID, search for the mail from IRCTC
(care@irctc.co.in) in your inbox.

What if I receive my e-mail OTP but don't receive my mobile OTP on SMS?

There might be some delay in receiving mobile OTP in few cases due to technical hurdles and it might reach you shortly.

Finally, I've got the credentials in place and also the e-mail from IRCTC. What is next?

In the email that you receive from IRCTC with e-mail OTP, there is a 'verify for partner website and activate your account' link. Click on this link and provide the details here. Upon successful registration, you'll be able to start making rail bookings with Cleartrip.
